Via MTV.com: With the success of songs like “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” “Hot Tottie” and “OMG,” Usher had himself a fairly massive 2010. But rather than rest on his laurels, he’s looking to build on his big year, not with an album, but with a “movement.”
Via Rap-Up.com: Usher’s ready to start a revolution. The “OMG” singer, who is currently in the early stages of recording his next LP, is setting out to create a new genre of music on the follow-up to last year’s Raymond v. Raymond. Instead of dipping into Euro-pop like he did in 2010, Ursh is planning on making an album’s worth of “Revolutionary Pop.”
“I’m a consumer of culture and love mixing styles and inspirations, both in my music and my style,” the superstar told StyleList. “I’m working on a new genre of music—Revolutionary Pop—which combines several music genres to create a new sound experience.”
Check out some snippets of an interview that Usher did with Billboard.com and an interview collaborator Rico Love did with YRB talking about Usher releasing another album this year!
I don’t plan on taking a long time or hiatus from music after this tour,” the multi-platinum R&B singer told Billboard.com in advance his worldwide OMG trek, which kicks off Nov. 10 in Seattle and runs through late March of 2011. “I do plan on coming right back. I don’t know exactly what type of musical experience it will be, but I’ll be right back with another musical experience to keep it alive.” – Says Usher
Hip Hop and R&B sensation Usher spoke with “Extra” backstage at his sold-out gig at the Staples Center in L.A. on Thursday — where he dished on everything from his kids, to what audiences can expect from him at Sunday’s American Music Awards.
Nominated for three AMAs, the singer said he’s really looking forward to the event. “You guys are gonna love the show,” he gushed. “I’m telling you, I’ve got an incredible treat for you.”
Currently on tour, Usher has his two boys traveling the world with him; Usher V, who turns 3 on Nov. 26, and Naviyd Ely, who will be 2 on Dec. 10.
“They have their own play area backstage,” the “OMG” singer said about having his boys on tour. “The ultimate inspiration and motivation is to know what I’m doing is for my kids. There are times in the show where it might get a little racy and they have to go in the back.”
Excited?? So make sure to catch Usher performing on the American Music Awards, Sunday at 8:00 PM PST on ABC.
Suave R&B superstar Usher was an early Casanova and lost his virginity at the age of 13.
The hunk rose to stardom as soon as he became a teenager after landing a record deal with LaFace Records following an appearance on TV talent show “Star Search.”
Usher admits he took advantage of his fame and was soon bedding girls on a regular basis – although his early intimate experiences were meaningless because he had no idea what he was doing.
He tells Vibe magazine, “I started having sex at 13. I didn’t understand why I was having sex until I was about 17 or 18. Let’s just say this: I didn’t realize (that) you start to finish (give his partner an orgasm). Up until that point, I had never finished. I just always had sex. I understood that I gotta make sure I please this woman, and I hope that her making those noises aren’t pain!”
You don’t become a global icon without knowing a thing or two about style. Cole Moreton meets the singer with hundreds of suits, 10,000 trainers and millions of record sales (and we daren’t ask how many socks…)
Nobody else notices Usher come in. The studio in Manhattan is full of people waiting for an R&B superstar, a legendary lover man. No one bats an eye at the short guy in jeans and t-shirt who stands in the doorway for ages, rolling a juice bottle in one hand. Not until he strides across the room, straight up to the prettiest girl there. ‘Hi,’ he says, offering a hand and a brilliant smile. ‘I’m Usher.’
Of course he is. Suddenly the place is alive with the sound of cooing. But Usher moves fast, disappearing behind a screen and emerging a few moments later transformed. Dressed in a gorgeous blue Tom Ford suit, set off with a £30,000 Audemars Piguet rose-gold watch and a diamond-encrusted David Yurman scarab ring, he now looks exactly like the superstar they want.
